Welcome to the world's largest Tango and social dance school
Classes are divided into groups according to dance level, with each group guided by a pair of instructors. Classes are conducted in Spanish, but all our teachers are bilingual and translate instructions as needed. No experience or partner is required.
La Viruta Tango’s school travels the world, sharing its teaching method. Its team of experienced dancers and instructors performs exhibitions and conducts seminars in Argentina and worldwide.

CREATOR OF LA VIRUTA TANGO
Luis Solanas is an actor, tango dancer, choreographer, and cultural producer.
Recognized as a "Distinguished Personality" in the field of Culture by the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
Since 1990, Luis Solanas has dedicated his talent and creativity to making Buenos Aires dance Tango. In September 1994, he inaugurated La Viruta Tango. From the very beginning, it was established as a free-spirited space, free of prejudice, where Tango and the arts coexist. Today, La Viruta Tango is an icon of the tango community and the city of Buenos Aires.
With an extensive career as an actor, he has participated in theater, film, and television under the direction of renowned artists.
As a professional Tango dancer, he has performed in the most prestigious tango venues and shows in Buenos Aires.
As a Tango instructor, Luis Solanas has taught classes and performed exhibitions in Germany, Brazil, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Russia, Senegal, and Uruguay, as well as in various regions of Argentina.
In the 2017, 2018, and 2019 editions of the Buenos Aires Tango Festival and World Championship, he was invited as a judge for the qualifying rounds and the Tango Pista final. In the 2022 and 2024 editions of the Buenos Aires Tango Festival, he taught improvisation classes alongside María José Iglesias. In 2023, he was part of the distinguished jury in the final of the Tango Pista World Championship in Buenos Aires. In 2024, he judged the qualifying rounds of the Metropolitan Tango Championship, the Buenos Aires Tango Festival, the Campana Tango Festival, and the La Costa Tango Festival.
Throughout 2023, Luis Solanas was honored at the Buenos Aires Tango Festival and World Championship for his career, recognizing his work as an artist and a continuous creator of artistic and human networks. Similarly, at the Corrientes Tango Festival, he was invited to receive a tribute for his unparalleled work in leading the milonga La Viruta Tango AR.
In 2024, he was declared a "Distinguished Personality of Culture" by the Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
